Job Description

Duties


Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Head of Boarding will provide leadership in the management of the day-to-day operations of the facility, maintain existing and establish new working relationships with an expanded scope to improve outcomes for Indigenous students and community.
- Direct, coordinate and mentor the Youth Workers and Senior Youth Worker and hostel staff, while overseeing efficient and effective operations of a boarding facility.
- Provide line management, support and leadership to all hostel staff, including regular development and routine performance management.
- Participate in forums and meetings to promote AHL’s hostel operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve services for the hostel.
- Promote and safeguard the safety and welfare of students, adhering to AHL’s child protection policy at all times.
- Monitor the implementation and delivery of mentoring and recreational programs for students, to assure participation addresses key development initiatives for students in culturally appropriate ways.
- Coordinate and oversee hostel operations and practices that are responsive to the needs of the students, including compliance with health and safety requirements.
 

Eligibility


- Hold Australian citizenship
- Obtain a Working with Children’s Check (or equivalent)
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Medical Assessment
- Satisfactorily complete a Probation period
