Duties


Biala Student hostel provides boarding accommodation for Indigenous girls attending MacKellar High School or other high schools in Manly Vale, Sydney. Hostel is within 2 km from the shopping centre, bus transport, high schools and the hospital. Located in Sydney and provides safe and affordable accommodation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students looking to improve their social and economic circumstances.

Under the direction of the Head of Boarding, the Senior Residential Youth Worker will assist in in the management of the day-to-day operations of the facility, maintain existing and establish new working relationships with an expanded scope to improve outcomes for Indigenous students and community:
- Work collaboratively with Residential Youth Workers, school and community to provide one-on-one support to students, ensuring their personal and educational development.
- Plan, develop and facilitate educational and cultural activities, including mentoring and recreation for students.
- Develop individual learning plans and guidance for students including goal setting, mentoring, career/future planning.
- Initiate and monitor student care plans, including student medical and mental health support.
- Have oversight of administrative tasks including student applications, student enrolments, ABStudy support and student appointments.
- Perform the duties of the First Aid Officer, Harassment Contact Officer and Fire Warden as Communicate effectively and develop co-operative relationships with Residential Youth Workers and school teachers to assure continuous improvement in a learning environment.
 

Eligibility


- Hold Australian citizenship
- Obtain a Working with Children’s Check (or equivalent)
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Medical Assessment
- Satisfactorily complete a Probation period
