ASIO is seeking a Senior Executive for appointment as Assistant Director-General (ADG) who will provide strategic leadership, management and direction within the Technical Capabilities Division of ASIO. At a Branch level you will be responsible for planning, managing, monitoring and reporting on your Branch's activities including financial and risk management.

ASIO is seeking a Senior Executive who is able to operate at the highest levels within government and whose track record demonstrates the abilities necessary to coordinate, manage and perform successfully across a wide range of intelligence, technical/information and corporate related functions. Your strategic leadership skills, outstanding communication skills and your proven reputation mean you will be able to succeed in a fast-paced and high pressure environment.

As the Branch Head of a technical workforce you will be in a position to make a significant contribution to the important work of the Organisation. You will lead a team of technical experts who maintain and enhance ASIO's technical capabilities in support of the security intelligence mission of ASIO. You will plan, manage, monitor and report on the Branch's activities, budget and risk as well as liaise with ASIO's partners in government and industry. You will be responsible for the Branch's implementation of a significant organisational transformation agenda. Your demonstrated ability to manage financial, technical and workforce resources will be essential to your success in this role.



Qualifications at the graduate or post graduate level in an ICT related field are highly desirable as well as significant experience leading large technical teams and projects.


Working Conditions:
Employment is under the ASIO Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. Salary packaging arrangements are available.

The selection period is extensive and candidates must be prepared to undergo various selection stages over an extended period of time.

All employment decisions and selection processes within ASIO are based on merit principles. The duties of the appointment require a national security clearance. Preferred candidates must be assessed as suitable to hold a high level security clearance and will be required to undergo psychological assessment and intrusive security and personal checking/ assessment.
