Job Description

Duties


The Branch Manager Air Navigation, Airspace & Aerodromes is responsible for managing and leading the branch to achieve CASA’s objectives in accordance with relevant legislation, CASA’s Corporate Plan and the Director of Avation Safety’s directives.

Air Navigation, Airspace & Aerodromes Branch is responsible for exercising CASA’s authority for national airspace regulation; certification and ongoing surveillance of certified and registered aerodromes; and certification and ongoing surveillance of providers of instrument approach designs, providers of communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS) services and providers of air traffic management (ATM) services.

The Branch Manager, Air Navigation, Airspace & Aerodromes is a member of the Aviation Group’s senior leadership team and employed under CASA’s senior manager (SM) arrangements.

About Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia 

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) was established on 6 July 1995 as an independent statutory authority.

The primary function of CASA is to conduct the safety regulation of civil air operations in Australia and the operation of Australian aircraft overseas. It also provides comprehensive safety education and training programmes, cooperates with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, and administers the Civil Aviation (Carriers' Liability) Act 1959.

The Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 and 1998, made under authority of the Civil Aviation Act, provide the general regulatory controls for safe aviation operations.

CASA is staffed under the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and conditions of service for the majority of staff are set by an Enterprise Agreement.
