ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Advisor, Vessel Safety you will play a key role in assisting with the evaluation, promotion, development and implementation of maritime safety related policy decisions.

Specifically, this role will see you monitor national and international developments and outcomes of maritime standards agencies such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to ensure AMSA’s regulatory scheme is kept up to date.

You will be a trusted source of knowledge in relation to technical maritime standards related matters; assisting with the review and analysis of Marine Orders and the development of maritime technical information.

In this role you will liaise and engage with a number of internal and external stakeholders; developing key contacts within the industry and Governments to engage, promote and raise awareness of maritime standards and regulatory matters.
 

Eligibility


ABOUT THE PERSON

To be successful in this position you will have solid foundations within the maritime industry; with a working knowledge of the Australian maritime regulatory framework and international maritime standard setting agencies.

Your ability to research and monitor industry developments coupled with an ability to scrutinise, analyse, interpret and advise on maritime standards and regulatory matters will be key to your success.

You will have demonstrated experience preparing submissions, reports and briefings to senior internal and external stakeholders. You will be a natural promoter and influencer with an ability to build and maintain strong networks and relationships.

Your ability to plan and coordinate multiple activities will be integral to your success in this position. You will have strong presentation skills of both the written and verbal capacities and enjoy working with others to deliver positive outcomes.
