Job Description


The Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) is looking for ICT Security Specialists who will be responsible for handling and responding to malicious and anomalous computer network activity on Defence ICT systems.

As a member of this team you will perform analysis on complex incidents, utilising large data sets and provide sound conclusions. You will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of security traffic analysis, detection and response techniques including:

• communication/networking knowledge,
• networking protocols, and
• applications and services that transit a gateway environment, i.e. mail and web.

As a successful member of the CIOG team you will provide high level, accurate and well informed subject matter expert advice in relation to Cyber Security incidents to management and internal/external stakeholders.

Applicants are advised that certain ICT Security Specialist positions in the team may be required to perform shift work.

An enhanced remuneration package may be considered for the successful applicants.


Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at 'Negative Vetting Level 1', 'Negative Vetting Level 2' or Positive Vetting, according to the actual position.

For Positive Vetting positions, prior to commencement successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.
