Job Description

Duties


APS4/5 - Analyst

Duties are to be performed under broad supervision and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values to achieve results in line with the corporate mission of the ACCC. Duties may include:

1. Assist with research, analysis and reporting in relation to finding practical solutions to complex issues.

2. Undertake relevant pricing and industry monitoring and analysis under minimal supervision and adjust plans and priorities to meet objectives.

3. Assist or manage various databases and prepare ongoing reports and briefs in a timely manner.

4. Prepare or assist with written reports, briefings, submissions and recommendations for action of relevant competitive issues within the relevant sectors.

5. Assist to communicate the results of ACCC’s analysis and activities and liaising with a range of stakeholders from the public, industry, State and Commonwealth agencies.

6. Work independently and part of a team to meet specified deadlines, long term and ongoing objectives.

APS6 - Senior Analyst

Duties are to be performed under broad supervision and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values to achieve results in line with the corporate mission of the ACCC. Duties may include:

1. Apply economic and regulatory principles to find practical solutions to complex issues.

2. Manage diverse tasks and projects in a timely and effective way.

3. Play a role in contributing to: internal staff papers; regulatory proceedings and published reports; recommendations arising from regulatory investigations and reviews; and general correspondence – making decisions in the preparation of these that are based on judgement, interpretation and analysis.

4. Research, analysis and review of regulatory arrangements and investigation of relevant competitive issues within the relevant sectors.

5. Communicate with and provide advice and recommendations to a wide variety of customers and external stakeholders. Liaise and respond to stakeholder’s needs and expectations. Represent the work area or agency at meetings, conferences or seminars.

6. Analyse and manipulate complex sets of data to contribute to regulatory outcomes.

EL1 - Assistant Director

Working under limited direction, roles and duties may include:

1. Applying quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, economic and regulatory principles to find practical solutions to complex competition and regulatory issues.

2. Managing regulatory processes under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

3. Managing projects in a timely and effective way, providing team members with clear direction and supervision. Determine priorities and ensure deadlines are met.

4. Preparing and overseeing the preparation of: internal staff papers; regulatory proceedings and published reports; recommendations arising from regulatory investigations and reviews; and general correspondence.

5. Research, analysis and review of regulatory arrangements and investigation of competitive issues within the relevant sectors.

6. Managing relations with business, industry, government consumer and other groups.

7. Working independently and as part of a team to meet specified deadlines and long-term objectives.

8. Mentoring and motivating team members, including developing team capabilities, creating a cooperative and productive environment, and managing performance as required.
