Job Description

Duties

The Bureau of Meteorology is an agency in the Environment portfolio of the Australian Government.

The Bureau provides critical guidance to the Australian public regarding weather conditions, frequently in the context of extreme weather and the provision of warning information. In addition, many aspects of the wider environment are affected by weather conditions, including agriculture, physical infrastructure, health and wellbeing and the economy.

Recently the Bureau of Meteorology underwent significant changes including a revised strategic direction with a focus on specific sectors of the economy. One such sector is agriculture.

We are seeking a dynamic, flexible and largely self managed individual to join a small team that will engage and collaborate with key players in the sector that have weather, climate or water sensitivities in their businesses. Together with the capabilities of the Bureau as a whole, the team will be expected to problem solve and develop solutions that will ultimately provide value and improve productivity in the agriculture sector.

The ideal candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills and ability to connect effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders. The candidate must be able to work closely with customers and extract in depth knowledge of their business models and operations with a view to developing innovative solutions and services.
