Job Description


The Bureau of Meteorology maintains a Talent Register to identify suitable candidates for vacant roles.

The Register may be used to fill non-ongoing (temporary) roles on either a specified term, specified task or irregular & intermittent (casual) basis. Temporary engagement may be offered up to 18 months without holding a competitive selection process and may be extended with total period not to exceed three years, either full time, part time or casual.

As part of your registration, you will be asked to indicate your area of expertise, educational history and to include your resume outlining your work history, experience and skills. Your registration will remain active until 30 June 2018. After this time you will need to renew your registration by re-applying. To be eligible for temporary employment at the Bureau, you must meet the following requirements:

• hold Australian Citizenship
• satisfactory probation
• national police check
• security clearance to the appropriate level, if applicable
• reference checks
• formal qualifications checks, if applicable



This register aims to attract potential candidates to perform duties on a short-term non-ongoing basis, should such positions become available. There is no guarantee that any work will be available. For casual positions, the nature of irregular and intermittent work means there can be no expectation of work of any particular pattern or duration. This register is intended for non-ongoing opportunities only and applicants should have no expectation of gaining ongoing employment through this register.
