Duties


The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (Quality Agency) is the body responsible for residential aged care accreditation, the quality review of Commonwealth funded home care services, and the provision of education and information to promote high quality care in the aged care sector.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative Communications and Corporate Affairs specialist to promote the work of the Agency, oversee the Agency’s corporate communication and reporting responsibilities and to provide media management expertise.

The successful applicant will be accountable for the Quality Agency’s internal and external communication activities, including the documentation of communication plans, providing strategic communications and media advice, drafting media releases, producing social media and managing media relations.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing and overseeing the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency’s organisational messaging and constituent services to enhance openness, transparency and accountability in the Quality Agency work.
• Working collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and implement the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency’s communication strategies to broaden the impact of the Agency’s program.
• Managing sensitive media issues to position the Quality Agency in a positive and accurate light.
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, implement, review and evaluate strategic communications strategies, and tactical and operational stakeholder engagement plans, programs and projects to support agency initiatives related to roll out of the federal government aged care initiatives.
• Coordinating whole-of-Agency responses to emergent requests around the Agency's responsibilities as a Commonwealth entity.
• Leading a team of 2 FTE (1 ongoing & 1 non-ongoing) employees, and coordinate a virtual team that also includes the Senior Adviser (Office of the CEO) and the Communication role in Education and Programs division.
 

Eligibility


To be successful in this role you will have the following:

• Significant communications experience that includes a blend of advocacy and media relations.
• A strong track record of positioning an organisation to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment.
• Ability to coach and support senior leaders as spokespersons.
• Demonstrated experience working effectively with line/ business areas and strong capability in managing relationships and influencing strategy.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrable expertise in on-line experience and platforms, digital strategies and effective use of multi-media channels.
• An understanding of the machinery of government, the role of industry bodies and effective stakeholder and public engagement practices.

Salary offered will be between $115,252 to $136,453 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check. Appointment is subject to a national security assessment at the Baseline clearance level.
