Job Description


The Fair Work Ombudsman was established by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our role is to work with employees, employers, contractors and the community to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplaces. We investigate workplace complaints and enforce compliance with Australia's workplace laws.

The Quality and Information Policy Team, within the Policy and Partnerships Branch is responsible for the management of the design and delivery of the FWO’s operational Quality Assurance Program, the FWO’s Review Team and file review processes, the FWO’s relationship with the Commonwealth Ombudsman, the FWO’s information access functions, including Freedom of Information (FOI) and the Document Access requests and the FWO’s privacy function.

As a Senior Policy Officer you will be actively managing specific QA initiatives with the aim of delivering nationally consistent quality processes and outcomes. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation, reporting and reviewing of allocated QA initiatives. In particular you will be required to consult and engage with internal and external clients and stakeholders to achieve improvements in the outcomes of the broader Agency.

You will also be required to contribute to the broader functions of the Quality and Information Policy Team, such as the FWO’s information access functions (including handling of FOI matters), the Review Team, Commonwealth Ombudsman and other QIP projects.

To be successful in this role, you will have highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound recommendations and decisions. You will have the ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail, and have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, to manage relationships with internal and external clients, stakeholders and other Government agencies. Background experience and knowledge in Quality Assurance principles will be highly regarded.
