Job Description

Duties
The Department is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced senior lawyer to lead a branch of the Legal Services Group. You will play an important role assisting the relevant policy areas of the Department implement the Australian Government’s communication policies and programs.

The Legal Services Group is headed by the General Counsel, assisted by two Senior Executive Lawyers.

The successful candidate will meet the Senior Executive leadership capabilities including outstanding management and innovative leadership ability, exceptional negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills, the capacity to operate within the broader Government context, and the ability to promote strategic relationships and demonstrate excellent representation skills. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the provision of high quality legal services.

Please note: interviews will be held on Friday 9 April 2010.

Eligibility
Applicants must be admitted as a legal practitioner in an Australian jurisdiction and hold, or be eligible to hold, an ACT Restricted Practising Certificate. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security clearance at the top secret level.
