Job Description

Duties
The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service plays a vital role in preventing the illegal movement of people and goods across Australia’s border. In performing this role they work closely with a range of agencies, often exercising powers on their behalf, at other times working with them to complement each other's capabilities and powers.
The Cargo Division develops and implements national policy and programs to facilitate trade through airports, seaports and the international mail environment while undertaking the interventions needed to prevent the illegal movement of goods across the border, and collecting trade statistics and revenue.
Customs and Border Protection is seeking a senior executive to play an important role in ensuring cargo management processes support the broad range of outcomes sought by government and industry. Excellent people management ability, high level policy, operational and senior leadership experience with a proven track record of achievement in challenging environments are key attributes for this role. An ability to represent Customs and Border Protection matters in the context of Australia’s national interests in a wide range of forums both domestically and internationally will be essential to the role. A highly collegiate style is critical to assess and respond to a wide range of industry, trade and border protection issues in this dynamic environment.
Experience in harnessing technology to deliver significant outcomes with a demonstrated capacity to build and maintain relationships is essential.

 
Eligibility
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment at the Top Secret level
