Job Description
Duties
Several vacancies exist across the Northern Territory for Local Engagement Managers. As a Local Engagement Managers you will use your knowledge of the local area and experience in liaising with organisations to raise awareness of the Census within key sectors of the community.
Local Engagement Managers will work from home, and undertake work in remote Indigenous communities as well as urban areas. You may be required to travel by 4WD or light aircraft, and will have a current drivers licence. Some weekend and after hours work may be required.
Some of the tasks undertaken by Local Engagement Managers include: • Build networks within your region to create both an increased applicant range and potential support during the recruitment process. This will include locally situated locals, Northern Territory and Australian Government organisations, development organisations, support agencies and other community organisations. • Responsible for raising awareness of the Census within key sectors of the community. • Identify public relations opportunities and undertake this work in consultation with the CMU. • Develop a detailed plan of the area, including all towns, communities, town camps • Identify potential recruitment sources and raise awareness of census recruitment activities in these sources These positions offer the opportunity to use and develop sounds written and oral communication skills, together with project management, research skills and problem resolution. You will work under general direction to achieve the timely delivery of required outputs.

These positions are available for approximately 18months, from April 2010 to December 2011 (dates are approximate and subject to negotiation).
