Job Description
Duties
Applicants must quote Job Reference No DSTO/31816.
• Would you like to help influence the strategic direction of Australia’s defence science? • Are you visionary, yet have a pragmatic approach to strategic planning? • Can you work across a number of issues at one time as part of a small team?
The Defence Science and Technology Organisation provides science and technology support for Defence capabilities. The Chief Defence Scientist manages this effort, and Strategic Planning Coordination provides him with strategic advice and support. It contributes to Defence’s wider strategic planning and develops strategic plans for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation itself. It develops policy for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation’s forward research program and provides governance for that program.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this work by, amongst other things, contributing to the Defence Science and Technology Organisation’s strategic planning by researching and analysing trends and issues (especially trends in science and technology), and contributing to policy development in key areas. They will be keen, flexible, work well in a small team and be able to work on several diverse issues at one time.
